Members are accepted following audition or recommendation; Cardinal Singers must have good choral music reading skills and voices that blend with others.
Dues, music, and red chiffon scarf fees typically run $80-100. The scarf is worn at performances and only purchased once; music and dues are paid seasonally.
Thursday rehearsals are from 9:20 to 11:30 a.m. at Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh, beginning in September and ending in April.
We typically have 25+ rehearsals per singing season, which runs from September-April. Although perfect attendance is not required, attendance must be a priority for each member of our community.
We perform 15-20 community events per season. With few exceptions, performances are on weekday mornings in the Raleigh area and are given at the site of the club or organization, or other venues. We also perform an annual community concert in April, which includes additional group rehearsal time beyond weekly rehearsals.
Members practice between rehearsals as needed to learn their parts and keep pace with the group's learning of music. Members also volunteer and help out as needed to further the mission of the choir. Members provide their own concert attire, including an all black, long-sleeved or ¾-length sleeved top, black slacks, and black shoes and socks/stockings. And finally--but importantly--members must be able to access email and the internet to receive choir communications.
